HOW TO ATTRACT, LEAD, AND RETAIN GEN Z

62% of Generation Z anticipate challenges working with Baby Boomers and Generation X, and only 5% anticipate challenges working with Millennials. To ensure a cohesive cross-generational team, leaders need to understand and integrate Millennials and Generation Z.

Currently, Millennials make up the largest generation in the workforce and Gen Z is the fastest-growing generation in the workforce. While Millennials and Gen Z bring valuable skills, insights, and ambition to the workplace, they are often a source of tension among experienced workers and managers. This program provides tactical strategies to dramatically improve the managing, recruiting, engaging, and selling of your next-generation workforce.

In this presentation, you will learn:
•    Insights into Millennial and Gen Z employee values, behaviors, motivators, and expectations
•    Perspectives of the key workplace and leadership preferences of the emerging generations
•    Strategies that are proven and actionable to lead, retain, recruit, and engage the emerging generations
•    Techniques for communicating and connecting with Millennials and Gen Z

COMBINING PEOPLE AND TECHNOLOGY TO SOLVE THE SKILLS GAP

With the skilled workforce aging, fewer new entrants into trades fields and the on-the-job training (OJT) requirements of the current workforce, skilled trades employers are faced with increasingly severe talent development challenges. The way we have approached OJT in the past will not get us to where we need to be for the future of work. During this session, Rebecca Peredo will tackle the big labor challenges and illustrate how embracing technology can help operations leaders effectively manage their skills gaps using real case studies from Stanley Black and Decker.

In this presentation, you will learn:
•      The hidden costs of poor training
•      Finding productivity gains in unexpected places
•      How better technology can help companies find, train and retain top talent

LOOK! IS SITUATIONAL AWARENESS TRAINING KEY TO FEWER INCIDENTS?

Situational awareness is knowing what is going on around you and determining whether any health and safety threats exist. A lack of situational awareness is a major contributor to workplace incidents and AEU's LOOK program can help employees enhance their situational awareness by performing a few simple exercises and training their sensory and information processing skills.

LOOK is a situational awareness program from AEU designed to help maritime employers create the safest possible work environment for their employees.

In this presentation, you will learn:
•    The four core elements of situational awareness: listen, observe, orient, and know
•    How the training exercises in the LOOK program help workers understand their immediate environment and enable them to make decisions that keep them safe

THE NEW AGE OF EMPLOYEE TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

We thought we lived in a fast-paced technological age three years ago, but much of our employee development was still following traditional models. We’re now in a world rife with staffing shortages and supply chain backups - all while having advanced technology at our fingertips. We must take a new approach to employee training and development with that in mind.

Today’s workplaces are moving at a pace unlike ever before, and managers often struggle to find the time to schedule traditional in-person training. To stay informed and offer training for employees, managers need to be nimble and find ways to provide learning opportunities that limit time away from the job site and employ adult-based learning methodologies.

Following this presentation, you will learn:
•    The importance of adapting to new forms of training and development
•    New types of learning technologies of which you should be aware
•    Training and development opportunities available through AEU LEAD

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH: UNLOCKING PRODUCTIVE EMPLOYEES & IMPROVED OUTCOMES

Hiring and keeping today’s workforce can be costly and difficult to maintain. Companies that employ an occupational health partner can see significant cost savings and a healthier workforce. This is done through improving the accuracy of the hiring process by health screenings as well as a drug and alcohol screening program. When unfortunate injuries do occur, a knowledgeable partner in workplace medicine can help provide appropriate medical care, navigate regulatory issues, control costs and return an employee to work safely and sooner than mainstream providers after an injury. This holistic approach in helping manage your workforce will pay dividends in the long run.

In this presentation, you will learn:
•    Which hiring process improvements can help mitigate incidents before they happen
•    How an occupational health partner can result in better-controlled claims costs and employees who return to work more quickly
