Jeanette Harris has been an Occupational Nurse and Workers’ Compensation Specialist for 29 years with the last 19 years being at Austal USA, Mobile, AL. She is also a member of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses. She has worked at an Aluminum Foundry, Furniture Manufacturing Company, and Shipyard. Jeanette oversees the onsite medical offices, coordinates treatment, communicates with offsite medical facilities, files the necessary workers’ compensation forms and keeps a constant line of communication with Claims Specialists and Case Managers. She has worked with AEU for the past 19 years. Jeanette works along with the HSE Director and Safety Manager to investigate accidents and educate employees in a goal of preventing injuries. She is a vital part of promoting Health and Wellness at Austal. This includes review of medical documentation to determine work status for all medical issues and overseeing the Substance Abuse Program through our EAP. She also interacts with the Leave of Absence Coordinator on all medical cases, whether it be workers’ compensation or personal medical issues.
