Mark J. Baker has worked in the maritime business for over 40 years. Starting at Global Terminals in New Jersey, Mark moved on to positions of increasing responsibility at Maher Terminal and then to Florida-based port businesses S.E.L. Maduro and eventually to APM Terminals (APMT) in Miami. At one point, Mark oversaw APMT activity in Miami, Port Everglades, New Orleans, and Houston. He was a member of the team that built the APMT project in Virginia.

Along with being the Managing Director for APMT, Mark was Vice President and President of the local South Florida port association. Mark was a Board of Directors member and President of the National Maritime Safety Association, where he served for over 20 years. Mark was also a founding member of the Joint ILA/USMX safety committee, which developed rules and regulations pertaining to all aspects of safety at the family of ILA ports. The committee was also responsible for visiting and investigating serious injuries and fatalities at ILA ports.

Mark has been married to Nancy for 38 years and has two grown sons with whom he enjoys playing golf.
